Maroochydore Road Interchange Project

The Maroochydore Road Interchange project will upgrade the interchanges at Maroochydore Road and Mons Road. The project will include:

  • a new, four-lane eastbound bridge over the Bruce Highway from Nambour Connection Road to Maroochydore Road
  • converting the existing Maroochydore Road and Nambour Connection Road roundabout to a signalised interchange
  • construction of two-way service roads on the western and eastern side of the interchange
  • extension of Owen Creek Road to Sunshine Coast Grammar School
  • installation of new drainage structures
  • planning works for the section of the Bruce Highway between the Sunshine Motorway and Maroochydore Road Interchange

PROJECT HISTORY

Aug 2019 Infrastructure Australia approved the business case for the project. It has been added to the Infrastructure Priority List as a Priority Project.
Mar 2020 The construction contract was awarded to a joint venture of John Holland and Seymour Whyte. Major construction is due to commence in June 2020 and be completed in late-2022.
Jun 2020 Main works construction commenced on the project.
Jun 2023 Main works construction were completed on the project.
