Moonlight Range Wind Farm

The project is a proposed 450 megawatt wind farm, located 40 kilometres west of Rockhampton, Queensland.

The scope of the project includes construction of:

  • 88 wind turbines up to 280 metres hight
  • onsite 275-kilovolt connection into the Powerlink network, and
  • relevant supporting infrastructure.

The Queensland Government has refused the project and it will no longer be going ahead following a reassessment of the application.

PROJECT HISTORY

Nov 2023 Developer Greenleaf Renewables announced the project was in the early development phase.
Jan 2024 The Federal Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water issued an invitation for public comment on referral under the EPBC Act, closing 18 January 2024.
Jan 2025 The Queensland Government issued a proposed call in notice for the wind farm, to seek submissions from the project's proponent and community. The notice aims to re-confirm whether the project qualifies as 'state interest' and required re-assessment. The representation period is 40 business days, closing 14 March.
May 2025 The Queensland Government announced that it has declined the Moonlight Range Wind Farm application, following reassessment.
