Moreton Hill Wind Farm

The Moreton Hill Wind Farm, proposed by Squadron Energy, is a generation and storage project to be located near Pittong, 35 kilometers southwest of Ballarat, Victoria.

The scope of the project includes:

  • 62 wind turbines with an expected capacity of 420 megawatts, and
  • a battery with a dispatch capacity of 15 megawatts (no duration has been announced).

PROJECT HISTORY

Feb 2023 The project was referred to the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning, requesting determination on an EES Pathway.
Sep 2024 The Victorian Minister for planning reccomended an EES Statement would not be required for the project subject to environmental conditions.
Mar 2025 The project was included in the Federal Government's inaugural Renewable Energy Priority List. The Priority List aims to provide coordinated support through Federal, state and territory regulatory and environmental approval processes on a case-by-case basis and provide a 'faster to yes, faster to no' approach to regulatory approvals.
