Mount Hopeful Battery

The Mount Hopeful Battery Project, proposed by Neoen, includes a proposed 600-megawatt (MW) / 2,400-megawatt hour (MWh) battery. The project is expected to be delivered over two stages:

  • Stage One - indicative capacity of 430 MW / 1,720 MWh, and
  • Stage Two - indicative capacity of 170 MW / 680 MWh.

The project was previously being developed in conjunction with the Mount Hopeful Wind Farm Project.

The project site is located 13 kilometres southeast of Mount Morgan and lies approximately 45 kilometres south of Rockhampton and 65 kilometres west of Gladstone.

PROJECT HISTORY

Jul 2025 Neoen announced that the project would be developed separately from the Mount Hopeful Wind Farm.
Oct 2025 Neoen submitted its development application for the project to Rockhampton Regional Council.
