Murchs Corner BESS

The Murch's Corner Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is a grid-scale BESS with a capacity of up to 500MW / 2,000MWh. The BESS will connect to the existing 500 kV Moorabool to Mortlake transmission line.

The scope of the project includes delivery of a BESS facility, terminal station, on-site substation and ancillary infrastructure.

PROJECT HISTORY

Dec 2025 A development application for the project was submitted to the Victorian Minister for Planning for permit approval.
Mar 2026 The Federal Government opened invitation for public comment for the project on the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation portal.
