Muswellbrook Solar Farm

The Muswellbrook Solar Farm is a proposed solar and battery project located adjacent to the former Muswellbrook Coal Mine in New South Wales, within the Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone.

The project, proposed by OX2 in partnership with Idemitsu Australia, includes:

  • a 135-megawatt solar farm
  • a 135-megawatt / 270-megawatt hour battery
  • an onsite substation
  • approximately 2.4 kilometres of 132-kilovolt (kV) transmission lines, and
  • a 132-kV switching yard.

PROJECT HISTORY

May 2025 The NSW Independent Planning Commission granted approval to the project. The application report outlined the project's scope, including a 135-MW solar farm and 135-MW / 270 MWh battery.
