The NSW Government are building a new Tweed Valley Hospital to replace the existing Tweed Hospital facility.
The new facility will almost double the capacity of the current facility, helping to service increasing demand for healthcare services in the Tweed-Byron region.
The services to be provided by the new hospital include:
- an emergency department
- a range of medical, surgical and mental health services
- ambulatory care services and outpatient clinics
- 12 operating theatres
- an interventional cardiology service, and
- a radiotherapy service, part of an integrated cancer care service, including a PET-CT suite.

| Jun 2022 | The FY2022-23 NSW Budget allocated $237 million to the project in FY2022-23. The Budget also identified an increase of $50 million in the project's total estimated cost. The total cost is now $723 million. |
| Nov 2023 | Health Infrastructure NSW announced construction has completed on the Tweed Valley Hospital. The new hospital is set to open to patients in May 2024. |
