The Additional Overtaking Lanes (Newell Highway Program Alliance) package of the Newell Highway Upgrade included delivering 38 overtaking lanes covering approximately 60 kilometres of the Newell Highway.
The main works package included widening shoulders and centreline, and installing audio-tactile linemarking on the edges and centre of the road.

Nov 2020 | Following funding in the Federal Budget, the New South Wales Government announced that an additional ten overtaking lanes will be constructed through the Newell Highway Program Alliance, bringing the total overtaking lanes under the program to 40. |
May 2023 | Construction commences on final component of the additional overtaking lanes, delivered by the Newell Highway Program Alliance. |
Nov 2023 | The NSW Government announced the completion of the 38 new overtaking lanes along the full length of the Newell Highway. |
