Newell Highway Upgrade - New Dubbo Bridge

The 660-metre New Dubbo Bridge will connect the western side of the Macquarie River to River Street, travelling over the flood plain west of the river. The New Dubbo Bridge project will also include:

  • new and upgraded intersections at Whylandra Street, and the Newell Highway
  • realigning the Newell Highway with new separated lanes north of Whylandra Street, and
  • upgrading the intersection at Bourke Street and River Street.

PROJECT HISTORY

Apr 2022 TfNSW issued a Request for Tender for the construction of the New Dubbo Bridge, closing on 23 June.
Oct 2022 Abergeldie was awarded a $220 million contract for the construction of the New Dubbo Bridge.
Mar 2023 Construction commenced on the development of the New Dubbo Bridge.
Jun 2024 The 2024-25 NSW Budget allocated $52 million to the project in FY2024-25 and announced the project's total estimated cost has increased from $220 million to $263 million.
