The Tram Road to Springvale Road project is the third of three packages that comprise the North East Link - Eastern Freeway Upgrades.
The scope of the Tram Road to Springvale Road project comprises:
- express lanes
- smart technology
- upgraded noise walls, and
- revitalised sections of the Koonung Creek Linear Park.
The project was previously included in the NELP Freeway Packages – East and West but has since been renamed and rescoped.

Dec 2023 | The Victorian Government released a mid-year budget update, allocating new funding to the project. In total, $5.7 billion was allocated to the Eastern Freeway Upgrade. |
Oct 2024 | The Victorian Government announced the Synergy consortium comprising CPB, BMD and Arup as the preferred bidder for the project. |
