The Tram Road to Springvale Road project is the third of three packages that comprise the North East Link - Eastern Freeway Upgrades. 

The scope of the Tram Road to Springvale Road project comprises:

  • express lanes
  • smart technology
  • upgraded noise walls, and
  • revitalised sections of the Koonung Creek Linear Park.

The project was previously included in the NELP Freeway Packages – East and West but has since been renamed and rescoped.

The Victorian Government announced that the preferred bidder is the Synergy consortium, comprising CPB, BMD and Arup.

PROJECT HISTORY

Oct 2022 The Victorian Government called for Expressions of Interest for the North East Link - East and West packages, closing on 25 November.
Dec 2023 The Victorian Government released a mid-year budget update, allocating new funding to the project. In total, $5.7 billion was allocated to the Eastern Freeway Upgrade.
Oct 2024 The Victorian Government announced the Synergy consortium comprising CPB, BMD and Arup as the preferred bidder for the project.
