The proposed North East Link (NEL) project will connect the Metropolitan ring road (M80) and Eastern Freeway (M3) completing a ring road around Melbourne which includes the Monash Freeway (M1).
The East Package is one of North East Link's secondary Freeway Packages, which will upgrade the eastern section of the Eastern Highway. The East and West packages will upgrade 18 kilometres of the Eastern Freeway between Hoddles Street in Collingwood and Springvale Road at Donvale.
