The Northern Midlands Solar Farm, proposed by TasRex, is a 288-megawatt (MW) solar farm located 35 kilometers south of Launceston in Cressy, Tasmania on the site of the existing Connorville Station.
The project includes construction of a new transmission line linking the solar farm to the existing Poatina substation and a battery storage system.
The full project's scope includes:
- installation of 288 MW of solar panel arrays in Solar East and Solar West areas
- a Battery Energy Storage System (the proponent has not dislosed the battery's indicative dispatch size or duration)
- a 15-kilometre 220-kV transmission line including poles/towers and line
- a 33-kilovolt (kV) internal transmission line linking Solar East and Solar West areas
- a switchyard and operations and maintenance compound, and
- a new connection at the Palmerston Substation.
