NSW Health Pathology Statewide Hub

The NSW Health Pathology Statewide Hub is a proposed pathology hub that will support the delivery of local and state-wide clinical pathology, public health, medical research, and specialised support services on the Westmead Hospital campus.

The project will incorporate the relocation of the Institute of Clinical Pathology and Medical Research and complement the recently expanded Children’s Hospital at Westmead Pathology service.

PROJECT HISTORY

Jun 2025 The NSW Government announced its intended investment in a statewide pathology hub at Westmead Hospital, with funding to be committed in the 2025-26 NSW Budget.
Jun 2025 The 2025-26 NSW Budget committed $492 million for a NSW Health Pathology Statewide Hub on the Westmead campus to deliver pathology, public health, medical research and specialised support services. The vast majority of expenditure for this project has been allocated beyond the forward estimates, with $12.5 million allocated over four years to FY2028-29 including $0.5 million in FY2025-26.
