Ørsted Offshore Australia 1 (Gippsland 02)

Ørsted has proposed the Ørsted Offshore Australia 1 (Gippsland 02) project, a two gigawatt offshore wind farm proposed for the Gippsland Offshore Wind Zone off the coast of Victoria.

Gippsland 02 is proposed to be located between 56 and 100 kilometres off the coast of Gippsland, Victoria.

PROJECT HISTORY

Dec 2022 The Federal Government declares a 15,000 square kilometre area off Gippsland, Victoria as an offshore wind area.
May 2024 The Federal Government announced it intends to grant a feasibility licence to the project, subject to First Nations consultation. The licence authorises the project to assess the feasibility of offshore infrastructure and to apply for a commercial licence.
Jul 2024 Ørsted was granted a feasibility licence for the Gippsland Offshore Wind Zone for the project.
