Palmer Wind Farm

Tilt Renewables have proposed the Palmer Wind Farm, a 288 MW wind farm located near Palmer, South Australia, 50 kilometres east of Adelaide.

The scope of the project includes delivery of:

  • up to 40 turbines with a maximum capacity of 288MW,
  • two substations, 
  • transmission infrastructure, and
  • enabling infrastructure.

PROJECT HISTORY

Feb 2024 The project was submitted to PlanSA for development approval.
Jun 2024 The project was submitted to the EPBC portal for assessment.
Jul 2024 The project was granted planning consent by the South Australian planning commission.
Jul 2024 The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water declared the project would not require EPBC assessment.
Dec 2024 The project was announced as successful in the first Capacity Investment Scheme tender round.
Feb 2025 The South Australian State Commission Assessment Panel approved a design variation to the project, reducing the number of turbines from 103 to 40, and capacity from 300 MW to 288 MW.
Sep 2025 AGL entered into a power purchase agreement for the project. The agreement is expected to provide AGL with a 45 per cent offtake of the project generation, for a 15-year period.
