Penrith Stadium Redevelopment

The NSW Government has announced the redevelopment of Penrith Stadium. The scope of the works includes:

  • demolition of the western stand
  • play facilities catering for both male and female sporting teams 
  • new amenities and food and beverage offerings
  • refurbishment of the eastern stand
  • new stadium entries, and
  • warm up space on the western field.

PROJECT HISTORY

Nov 2022 A scoping report and request for the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements was published for the project.
Sep 2023 The NSW Government announced $309 million funding would be allocated to the redevelopment of Penrith Stadium over the forward estimates period, with $48 million allocated for FY2023-24. The 2023-24 NSW Budget Papers stated the final project scope will be considered by the Government in FY2023-24.
Jan 2024 The NSW Government released the proposed design concept for the project. The design concept includes a new western grandstand and a redeveloped eastern grandstand, which would increase the ground capacity to 25,000; new food and beverage outlets; and new player facilities including four new change rooms.
Mar 2024 The NSW Government submitted an updated Scoping Report to the Department of Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure, requesting the Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements for the project's preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement.
Apr 2024 The NSW Government issued the Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements for the Penrith Stadium Refurbishment.
May 2024 The NSW Government opened Expressions of Interest for the Main Works contract to deliver the Penrith Stadium Redevelopment, closing on 31 May.
Nov 2024 The NSW Government has announced that the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has granted the project planning consent.
