Piambong Wind Farm

The Piambong Wind Farm, proposed by Vestas, includes a wind generation and storage project to be located approximately 20 kilometres northwest of Mudgee. The scope of the works include:

  • 81 turbines with a capacity of up to 551 megwatts (MW)
  • a battery energy storage system with a capacity of approximately 100 MW / 200 megawatt hours, and 
  • permanent and temporary ancillary infrastructure.

The project will be located in the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone.

PROJECT HISTORY

Nov 2023 Vestas Development Australia submitted a Scoping Report to the NSW Government, requesting the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) for the project.
Dec 2023 The NSW Government issued the SEARs for the project.
May 2024 Supplementary SEARs were released for the project.
