Pilbara Green Link

The Pilbara Green Link is a proposed expansion to the North-West Interconnected System, linking the existing network to the Australian Renewable Energy Hub and other major generation projects.

The project would include installation of approximately 550 kilometres of 330 kilovolt transmission lines, and associated infrastructure.

In addition, the proposed tranmsission link will connect to existing iron ore mines in the Pilbara region to facilitate decarbonisation of the sector.

Procurement note:

The project is being tendered in two works pattern, Link 1, being 275 kilometres of transmission line and one substation, and Link 2, being 300 kilometres of transmission line and the other substation.

 

The contract is being delivered through a fixed lump sum price Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) contract selected through Early Contractor Involvement (ECI).

PROJECT HISTORY

Jul 2024 GHD has been engaged to provide preliminary engineering services for the proposed Pilbara Green Link project.
Sep 2024 Horizon Power called for Expressions of Interest for the delivery of the Pilbara Green Link. The project was to be delivered through an Early Contractor Involvement, and procured through two separate works packages. Horizon Power also announced that the project will be developed in conjunction with the Australia Renewable Energy Hub through a Special Purpose Vehicle.
