Pottinger Wind Farm

The Pottinger Wind Farm, part of the Pottinger Energy Park, is a proposed 1.3 GW wind farm ot be located approximately 60 kilometers south of Hay in the NSW South West Renewable Energy Zone. The scope of the project includes delivery of:

  • Up to 247 wind turbines with a generating capacity of 1.3GW
  • A 500 MW / 2GWh BESS
  • Five 330 kV wind substations and one 330 kV BESS substation, and
  • Enabling infrastructure.

The project is being developed by Someva Renewables and AGL Energy.

PROJECT HISTORY

Jun 2023 Someva Renewables lodged a scoping report for the project alongside a Request for SEARs to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment.
Jul 2023 SEARs were issued for the project.
Mar 2024 Supplementary NSW Planning Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) were issued for the project.
Jun 2024 The project's Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was placed on public exhibition, closing 4 July. The EIS detailed a revised scope with total generation capacity increased to 1.3 gigawatts from 750 megawatts.
Jul 2025 The project recieved development approval from the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
Oct 2025 The Federal Government approved the project's Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) proposal.
