The New Queensland Cancer Centre will be based within the Herston Health Precinct at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
The project aims to deliver 150 beds with medical oncology, radiation oncology, and allied health services provided. The Centre will be one of only two facilities in Australia to offer proton beam therapy, a specialised form of radiation therapy.

Procurement note: | The project is being procured as a part of the Queensland Government's Capacity Expansion Project (CEP). The CEP will deliver $9.8 billion worth of new and upgraded hospitals across 15 separate projects. CEP projects are being procured using a Pre-Qualified Panel model. Under the model, interested parties submit EOIs outlinining the list of projects or ‘bundles of projects’ they wish to participate in. Contractors successfully appointed to the panel will then be selected to participate in a Request for Tenders (RFT) phase for particular projects, or packages of projects. |

The Queensland Government announced Lendlease as the preferred contractor for the project, with the next stage being to progress design of the project. The Federal Government announced an additional $375 million in funding for the projects, increasing the scope of the project from 91 beds to 150 beds. |
