Callide REZ
- 2,000 - 2,600 megawatts (MW) of expected generation
- Early-mid 2020s
Calliope REZ
- 1,500 - 2,000 MW of expected generation
- Early-mid 2020s
Isaac REZ
- 1,400 - 1,800 MW of expected generation
- Mid-late 2020s
Capricorn REZ
- 1,400 - 1,800 MW of expected generation
- Mid-late 2020s
None of the REZs have been officially declared.

| Aug 2020 | The Queensland Government committed $145 million to support network upgrades and streamline the development of new renewable generation projects in the Queensland Renewable Energy Zones. |
| Sep 2020 | The Queensland Government opened Registrations of Interest for renewable energy generations and storage projects in the REZ, closing on 25 September. |
| Aug 2021 | The Queensland Government also announced there were 67 projects that registered interest in the Central QREZ. |
| Jul 2023 | The Queensland Government released the draft 2023 Queensland Renewable Energy Zone Roadmap which identified the four potential future REZs in Central Queensland. |
| Mar 2024 | The Queensland Government indicated that REZs in Central Queensland are expected to be the first official REZ. |
| Mar 2024 | The Queensland Government released the final Queensland Renewable Energy Zone Roadmap. |
| Jun 2024 | The Queensland Government commencement REZ readiness assessments in Central Queensland, which took place over June, July and August 2024. |
