The New Zealand Government is delivering upgrades to State Highway 6/6A (SH6/6A) in Frankton, Queenstown.
The upgrades include installing traffic signals at the SH6 and SH6A Frankton intersection and adjacent SH6/Hansen Road/Joe O’Connell Drive intersection, extending the Bus Hub and adding traffic signals at the entry and exit. There will be new bus stops, cycle lanes, and shared use paths. A roundabout is also being built at the SH6 and Howards Drive intersection.
The works form part of the NZ Government's NZ Upgrade Program.

PROJECT HISTORY
Apr 2024 | The NZ Government announced that an Alliance of Beca, WSP, Downer New Zealand and Fulton Hogan would deliver the works in an Alliance with Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency and Queenstown Lakes District Council. The government also announced that early works had commenced, with major works expected to commence later in 2024. |
