The Queensland Government is undertaking an expansion to the Redland Hospital. The project will be delivered over two stages.
Stage One includes delivery of a new intensive care unit with criticial care and life support facilities, and 37 additional inpatient beds.
Stage Two includes a new mental health facility with more mental health services and 20 new inpatient beds.

Sep 2020 | The Queensland Government announced the $62 million Stage One expansion of the hospital, including a new ICU and 32-bed ward. Detailed planning was also announced with a $6 million business case. |
Nov 2022 | The contract for Stage One was awarded to ADCO, including an additional 37 extra beds and a new ICU. |
May 2023 | The Queensland Government announced $150 million would be allocated to the project for Stage Two, including to rebuild the existing mental health building, increasing capacity by 20 beds. |
Jun 2023 | The 2023-24 Queensland Budget confirmed the total estimated cost of Stage One and Two as $62 million and $150 million respectively. |
Oct 2023 | Construction commenced on Stage One of the project. |
Jun 2024 | The 2024-25 Queensland Budget allocated an additional further $16 million to Stage One, bringing Stage One's total estimated cost to $78 million. |
