Richmond Road Upgrade

Richmond Road is a is a 23 arterial road linking Richmond and Blacktown in Sydney. The NSW Government has committed $385 million to upgrading Richmond Road.

Upgrades have been split into two funding packages, being:

  • $285 million for planning and early works to widen a 2.2-kilometre section to six lanes between the M7 Motorway and Townson Road and build a new off-ramp bridge to connect Richmond Road to Westlink M7, and
  • $100 million to widen to a section of Richmond Road to four lanes between Elara Boulevard and Heritage Road at Marsden Park.

The Federal Governmetn has also committed $75 million for Elara Boulevard to Heritage Road, Marsden Park.

NSW Governemtn funding has been provided through the WestInvest program.

As part of the March 2022/23 Federal Budget, the Federal Governemtn committed $25 million to Richmond Road - Elara Boulevard to Heritage Road, Marsden Park.

Following the release of the Strategic Review of the Infrastructure Investment Program in November 2023, the Federal Government committed an additioanl $50 million to Elara Boulevard to Heritage Road, Marsden Park.

Mar 2022 The 2022/23 Federal Budget allocates $25 million to Richmond Road - Elara Boulevard to Heritage Road, Marsden Park.
Feb 2023 The NSW Government committed $385 million towards the upgrade of Richmond Road in North-West Sydney.
Nov 2023 As part of the project changes resulting from the Independent Strategic Review of the Federal Infrastructure Investment Program, the Federal Government committed an additional $50 million to Richmond Road - Elara Boulevard to Heritage Road, Marsden Park.
