A new bridge will be constructed over State Highway 1 at Rolleston to connect the township with surrounding business and industrial areas. The project will also improve safety and travel reliability along a key section of the Canterbury transport network.
The scope of the project includes:

a new, two-lane roundabout at the SH1 and Dunns Crossing/Walkers Road intersection with a pedestrian and cycling underpass

a new bridge over SH1 linking Rolleston township and the industrial precinct between Rolleston Drive North and Jones Road
-
removal of the two existing signalised intersections at Hoskyns Road and Rolleston Drive North
-
extension of the southbound motorway lanes to just south of the new bridge

a southbound service lane and off-ramp to Rolleston town centre and adjacent businesses
-
left-in left-out treatments at Rolleston Drive South, Brookside Road and Tennyson Street intersections

upgrades to the Hoskyns Road rail level crossing

improvements at the Weedons Road interchange
