Royal Perth Hospital Emergency Department Redevelopment

The Royal Perth Hospital Emergency Depatrment Redevelopment is a proposed package of works comprising the delivery of a six-story tower at the existing Royal Perth Hospital S block, to replace the existing Emergency Department.

The scope of the project includes delivery of:

  • a six-story clinical tower,
  • car parking area,
  • expanded two level Emergency Department with new Ambulance bays,
  • a dedicated Cardiac Investigation Unit and Cardiac Care Unit,
  • a dedicated Dialysis unit,
  • a Sub-Acute Cardiology Ward and a Renal Inpatient Ward,
  • two Acute Medical Unit Wards, and
  • provisions for future helipad.

Procurement note:

The project will be delivered via a two-phase Alliance contract model following selection of the preferred proponent; Phase One, comprising design development and early construction work, and Phase Two, comprising design finalisation and main works construction.

PROJECT HISTORY

Jun 2025 The 2025-26 Western Australian Budget allocated $5 million for preliminary studies and master planning for the Royal Perth Hospital.
Nov 2025 The Western Australia Government confirmed that funding from the project would be sourced from the $1.5 billion Building Hospitals Fund.
Nov 2025 The Western Australian Government called for Request for Proposals for an alliance contract for delivery of the project. Submissions Close 9 December.
