Sandy Creek Solar Farm

The proposed Sandy Creek Solar Farm would comprise an 700-megawatt (MW) solar farm and 2,800 megawatt-hour (MWh) Battery Energy Storage System.

The project is to be located 25 kilometres southwest of Dunedoo, in the NSW Central West Orana REZ.

PROJECT HISTORY

Apr 2022 Lightsource BP submitted a Scoping Report and requested the Secretary's Environmental and Assessment Requirements (SEARs).
Mar 2024 The Federal Government has issued the SEARs following assessment under Australia's national environment law.
Mar 2024 The Federal Government announced the project has received environmental planning approval and a revision of the planned capacity of the solar farm from 750 megawatts to 840 megawatts.
May 2024 The project's Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was published and the project placed on exhibition, closing 25 June. The EIS indicated a revised proposal of a 700 megawatt (MW) solar farm and 2,800 MWh battery, reduced from 840 MW and 3,000 MWh respectively.
