Nov 2023 The Federal Government granted Major Project Status to the project. The project's proponent will now be given tailored advice from the Government during its progress through the regulatory process.
Dec 2023 The Federal Government issued to Flotation Energy a notice entitled 'Notice of Intention Not to Grant a Feasibility Licence', setting out that the application had been found to be of lower merit than an application with which it overlapped on technical and financial capability and suitability.
Jun 2024 Flotation Energy filed a motion with the Federal Court disputing the reasoning for the decision to not grant a feasibility licence.
Nov 2024 The Federal Court made a ruling against the Federal Government's interpretation of the legislation in its decision to not grant the project a feasibility licence, owing to a boundary overlap with another project. The Court determined the previous decision be set aside and the feasibility licence application be reconsidered.
