St Patricks Plains Wind Farm

The St Patricks Plains Wind Farm, proposed by Ark Energy, comprises 47 wind turbines, located 10 kilometres southeast of Miena and 25 kilometres north of Bothwell in Central Highlands, Tasmania. 

The wind farm would have a maximum generation capacity of 300 megawatts and connect to the Tasmanian grid via the existing TasNetworks Liapootah-Palmerston 220 kV transmission line, which crosses the site.

PROJECT HISTORY

Aug 2019 The project was referred under the EPBC Act, with the referral published on the Department of Environment and Energy's website for public consultation.
Aug 2019 The draft Project Specific Guidelines were published by the Environment Protection Authority Tasmania for public comments.
May 2022 Ark Energy completed its acquisition of Epuron Holdings, including the St Patricks Plains Wind Farm.
Aug 2023 Ark Energy announced that the Development Application and Environmental Impact Statement were lodged with Central Highlands Council.
Aug 2023 The Development Application and Environmental Impact Statement were placed on public exhibition for six weeks.
May 2024 Ark Energy provided the supplement report to the Environmental Impact Statement in response to comments on the EIS made during its public exhibition period.
Jul 2024 Ark Energy announced the Tasmania's Central Highlands Council granted planning approval to the project in its capacity as Planning Authority. This follows receipt of the Environment Protection Authority Tasmania’s environmental conditions set by their Board.
