The Stanwell Battery Energy Storage System is a proposed 300-megawatt / 1,200-megawatt hour battery system in the Central Renewable Energy Zone, located near the Stanwell Power Station.
The BESS is being built as part of the site's transition to a Clean Energy Hub.

PROJECT HISTORY
May 2024 | The Queensland Government announced they would provide $448 million in funding from the Queensland Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Job Fund to the project, increasing the proposed scope from 150 MW / 300 MWh to 300 MW / 1,200 MWh. The Government also confirmed the project would be delivered by a partnership comprising Stanwell, Tesla and Yurika, with the total estimated cost of the project increasing to $747 million. |
