The Stoney Creek BESS will be located on Stoney Creek Road, Narrabri, New South Wales, and has a capacity of 125 megawatts / 1,000 megawatt hours.
The project will connect to the existing electricity grid via a short overhead or underground cable to Transgrid’s Narrabri substation.
The project is being developed by Energy Vault.

| Oct 2024 | The NSW Government granted Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements to the project. |
| Feb 2025 | AEMO Services, serving as the NSW Consumer Trustee, awarded a Long-Term Energy Service Agreement to the project as part of its fifth tender round. |
| Mar 2025 | Energy Vault announced it had entered into an agreement to acquire the project from Enervest. |
| Aug 2025 | The project was formally acquired by Energy Valut following successful approval from the Foreign Investment Review Board. |
| Sep 2026 | The proponent, Energy Vault, announced that it had acquired land for the project. Additionally, construction timelines have been updated, with construction expected to commence in Q1 2027, with commercial operations targeted for the first half of 2028. |
