Sunny Corner Wind Farm

The Sunny Corner Wind Farm, is a proposed 500-megawatt (MW) energy project located approximately 35 kilometres from Bathurst within the Sunny Corner State Forest.

The scope of the project includes:

  • 80 Wind Turbines with a generation capacity of 500 MW
  • a 500-MW / 2,000 M-megawatt hour battery, and
  • up to four additional substations

The project is proposed by a Mainstream Renewable Power and Someva Renewables Joint Venture.

PROJECT HISTORY

Feb 2025 The project proponents submitted a Scoping Report to the NSW Government requesting the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements. The proposed project includes a 500-megawatt wind farm and 500-megawatt / 2,000-megawatt hour battery, with construction scheduled to commence in 2030 and be complete in 2032.
Mar 2025 SEARs were issued for the project, with the NSW Government flagging specific concerns surrounding visual amenity.
