Renewable Energy Systems are proposing a 500 megawatt (MW) solar farm and 500 MW / 1000 megawatt-hour (MWh) battery storage project to be located near Gulgong NSW within the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone. The project is being developed by Renewable Energy Systems (RES).
The project will include the construction, operation and decommissioning of the proposed solar farm and battery energy storage system. It will also include construction of operations and maintenance buildings, as well as enabling civil works and electrical infrastructure required to connect to the electricity transmission network.
An 11 kilometre overhead transmission line will be built to connect to the electricity transmission network and the project would share a 330 kilovolt substation located to the north of the project site with the proposed Barney's Reef Wind Farm project. Renewable Energy Systems is also the project proponent for the Barney's Reef Wind Farm project.
