Tchelery Wind Farm

The Techelery Wind Farm is a proposed 577-megawatt wind farm located in the NSW South-West REZ.

The scope of the project includes 74 wind turbines with a total capacity of 577 megawatts connected to the National Electricity Market through either EnergyConnect (NSW - Eastern Section) or the existing 220 kilovolt transmission line.

The project includes a battery energy storage system with a storage capacity of up to 350 MW / 700 MWh. The project will see delivery of a substation and switching station along with additional ancillary infrastructure.

NEOEN Australia is the project proponent.

PROJECT HISTORY

Jun 2023 Neoen submitted a Scoping Report to the NSW Government requesting the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) for the project. The Scoping Report outlined the proposed project's scope, including an 800-MW wind farm and provision for a battery.
Jul 2023 The NSW Government issued the SEARs for the project.
Feb 2025 The NSW Government issued Supplementary SEARs for the project, which included updated an updated project scope. The generation capacity of the project was reduced from 800 MW to 577 MW. The project was also confirmed to include a 350-MW / 700-MWh battery.
