The Townson and Burdekin Road upgrades are a proposed four-lane divided road along Townson Road and Burdekin Road linking Richmond Road, Marsden Park in the west and Burdekin Road, Schofields in the east. The total length of the project is 3.6 kilometres.
Scope for Stage one of the project includes:
- upgrade to dual carriageway of 1.6 kilometres of Townson Road and Meadow Road, from Richmond Road to the end of Durham Road.
The full scope of the project includes a second stage, which is subject to further funding commitments. Stage 2 involves the construction of dual carriageway between the end of Stage 1 and the intersection of Pelican Road at Burdekin Road, Quakers Hill.

Sep 2022 | Transport for NSW opened consultation on the Review of Environmental Factors for Stage Two of the project, closing October 24. |
Dec 2024 | Following Special Infrastructure Contribution funding granted to Transport for NSW by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI), Transport for NSW announced that they had completed this work and that further development of the project will be managed by DPHI. |
Jan 2025 | The Federal Government announced a $345 million funding package for Stage One of the project. |
