The Upper Calliope Solar Farm is a 1,300 megawatt (MW) solar farm proposed by European Energy. The solar farm would be located in the Calliope Renewable Energy Zone across a site of 2,700 hectares, approximately 50 kilometres west of Gladstone, Queensland.
The project involves the constructon of a photovoltaic (PV) facility and associated infrastructure, as well as internal overhead powerlines to the Calvale to Calliope River 275 kilovolt (kV) transmission line.
PROJECT HISTORY
Jan 2024 | Rio Tinto signed a power purchase agreement with European Energy for 100 per cent of the electricity generated by the project over a period of 25 years from the commencement of operations. |
Jun 2024 | The Federal Government opened public consultation on the project as part of the EPBC Referral, with submissions open until 3 July 2024. |
