Victorian Public Transport Ticketing Contract

The Victorian Department of Transport is seeking a service provider to operate and upgrade public transport ticketing through the Myki platform from 2023, when the current contract with NTT Data expires. The term of the new contract has not been publicly confirmed.

The successful tenderer will be expected to build on recent technology upgrades and introduce new features including credit card tap on and off, additional smartphone payment options, and account-based options being made available to passengers.

PROJECT HISTORY

2005 Kamco was awarded the initial $944 million contract which came to a final total cost of $1.5 billion.
2007 Myki platform commenced operation.
2010 NTT Data acquired Kamco and began operating Myki.
Nov 2016 NTT Data was awarded a $700 million contract to continue operating Myki for another seven years.
Nov 2021 Expressions of Interest opened from 15 November. The Victorian Government anticipates the EOI and tender process will run for two years.
