WA New Women and Babies Hospital

The WA Government has allocated $1.8 billion to a Special Purpose Account for a new Women and Babies Hospital. The Hospital is a specific maternity, neonatology, and gynaecology / oncology facility and will be built within the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct.

PROJECT HISTORY

Dec 2020 The Mid-year review set aside $1.8 billion for the project. By this stage, preliminary planning had already commenced following the initial investment of $3.3 million in the 2019-20 State Budget.
Feb 2021 Artist impressions of the new Women and Babies Hospital were unveiled.
Jan 2022 The WA Government confirmed the site location for the project, which will be constructed north of Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital G Block at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre. The scope of works and designs will be determined by a detailed business case and project definition plan, which were expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
Apr 2023 The WA Government announced a relocation of the project's proposed site to within the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct, south of the originally proposed location within the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital campus. The WA Government also announced an expected construction commencement date of 2024.
