The WA Government has announced plans to build a new women's and maternity hospital, to be located at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital Campus. This new hospital will replace the King Edward Memorial Hospital, Perth's main maternity hospital.

The 2019-20 WA Budget allocated $3.3 million towards to project to commence planning. In addition, the WA Government has recently finalised a dispute with BHP over royalty reductions that has resulted in a $250 million settlement for the Government. Of this, $230 million will be allocated towards the construction of the new hospital.

A timeline for the project is yet to be announced.
