Wambo Wind Farm

The proposed Wambo Wind Farm, located near Jundowae within the Queensland Southern Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), will be delivered in two stages. Stage One will include a 252-megawatt wind farm comprising 42 turbines. The scope of Stage Two will comprise an additional 41 turbines with 254-megawatts of additional generating capacity.

The project is a joint venture between Cubico Sustainable Investments and publicly-owned Stanwell Corporation.

PROJECT HISTORY

2018 Renewable Energy Partners (REP) announced the project.
2019 Renewable Energy Partners and Cubico Sustainable Investments agreed to co-develop the project. Following construction, Cubico Sustainable Investments is expected to be the long-term owner and operator of the Wambo Wind Farm.
Oct 2020 The Queensland Government granted the Wambo Wind Farm planning approval.
Mar 2022 The Queensland Government announced a $193 million allocation for the project.
Jun 2023 Construction commenced on the project.
Feb 2024 The Queensland Government approved the second stage of the project.
