Warracknabeal Energy Park

The Warracknabeal Energy Park Project is a proposed large-scale renewable energy development approximately 40 kilometres north of Horsham and five kilometres west of Warracknabeal in Victoria’s Wimmera region.

The project includes up to 219 wind turbines (up to 280 metres in height), underground and overhead 33kV electrical reticulation, two collector stations each co-located with a battery energy storage system, and a high-voltage transmission connection to the Murray–Western Transmission System (MWTS).

Ancillary works comprise permanent and temporary operations and maintenance facilities, access points and tracks, site compounds, batching plants, meteorological masts, and road and intersection upgrades to support over-dimensional transport movements from the Port of Portland.

PROJECT HISTORY

Aug 2025 The Victorian Minister for Planning has appointed an Inquiry to advise on the environmental effects of the proposed Warracknabeal Energy Park, with the EES on exhibition until 30 September 2025. An Inquiry report is expected to be presented to the Minister in Q1 2026.
