Intercontinental Energy, CWP Energy Asia and Mirning Green Energy are proposing a hybrid solar, wind and hydrogen plant located across the Dundas Shire and the city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
The project would:
- comprise 25 million solar panel modules and 3,000 wind turbines with a combined generation capacity of 70 gigawatts, and
- have the capacity to produce 50 gigawatts (GW) of energy over 15,000 square kilometres with a yearly output of up to 3.5 million tonnes of hydrogen or 20 million tonnes of ammonia.
The project is expected to be delivered over a 28 year timeframe of seven stages with an average capacity of 10GW per stage. The Stages have the following estimated capacity:
- Stage One - six GW
- Stage Two - eight GW
- Stage Three - 10 GW
- Stage Four - 14 GW
- Stage Five - 12 GW
- Stage Six - 11 GW, and
- Stage Seven - nine GW.
In addition to energy facilities, four additional infrastructure projects will be required for the project:
- Marine Offloading Facility (MOF), pipe yard and laydown area
- Workers village and other accommodation
- Rail siding, and
- Quarry
