Wilan Wind Farm

The Wilan Wind Farm is an energy generation and storage project, proposed by Kilara Energy, to be located near Balranald, NSW, within the South-West Renewable Energy Zone. The scope of the works includes:

  • 138 wind turbines with a generation capacity of approximately 800 megawatts (MW)
  • a battery energy storage system with 200-MW / 800-MWh capacity, and 
  • a connection to Project EnergyConnect.

PROJECT HISTORY

Nov 2022 A scoping report was published for the project alongside a request for the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs).
Dec 2022 The NSW Department of Planning and Environment issued SEARs for the project.
May 2025 The NSW Government issued updated SEARs for the project.
