Wimmera Plains Energy Facility

Wimmera Plains Energy Facility is a proposed wind farm with up to 52 wind turbines producing up to 312 megawatts (MW) of capacity. The project also includes a battery energy storage system with a capacity of up to 100 MW / 400 megawatt hours (MWh).

The project would be located 10 kilometres north-east of Horsham, Victoria. The project area comprises approximately 3,800 hectares of land.

The wind farm would connect to an existing 220 kilovolt transmission line, which traverses the project site.

Jul 2024 As part of the Federal Government's environmental approvals process under the EPBC Act, public comment was sought on the project, closing 19 July.
Aug 2024 The Federal Government granted environmental approval for the project.
