Wyaralong Water Treatment Plant

The Wyaralong Water Treatment Plant project aims to provide a new treatment plant downstream from the Wyaralong Dam, and a connection to the South East Queensland (SEQ) water grid. The project is intended to service the Beaudesert and southern Logan areas and is expected to be located on the north bank of the Logan River, approximately 500 metres from the existing Ceder Grove Weir.  

The full scope of the project includes: 

  • a water treatment plant with the capacity to treat 120 megalitres per day, and includes raw water intake from Logan River and a discharge pipeline to Logan River 

  • an approximately 14km pipeline to carry treated water from the WTP north to the Southern Regional Water Pipeline, and 

  • an injector pump station to add the requisite energy needed to inject the treated water.

Procuring Agency: Seqwater
Shortlist: Acciona Wyaralong, comprising Acciona Construction and Acciona Agua, and Sacyr John Holland Joint Venture, comprising Sacyr Construction, Sacyr Water, and John Holland.
Procurement note:

The procurement process includes two separate contracts – a Design and Construction (D&C) contract and a separate Operations and Maintenance contract, being procured simultaneously. The D&C contract is expected to also comprise the successful operator to contribute to the project’s design.

PROJECT HISTORY

Feb 2025 Seqwater hosted an industry briefing for the project, and subsequently called for Registrations of Interest for the project.
Aug 2025 The project was published on the EPBC portal for public submission, closing 28 August.
Sep 2025 Seqwater has shortlisted two consortia, Acciona Wyaralong and Sacyr John Holland Joint Venture. Early works on the project are underway, with final proposals expected in 2026. Following this, a preferred proponent will be awarded the contract, subject to government approvals.
