ACEnergy's proposed Yanco Battery Energy Storage System is a 250-megawatt (MW) / 1,100-megwatt hour (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS). The project is to be located near Yanco, approximately seven kilometres south of Leeton and 25 kilometres north-west of Narrandera in south-western New South Wales. It would be located just outside of the South West Renewable Energy Zone.
The scope of the project includes:
- a 250-MW / 1,100-MWh, four-hour BESS
- underground cabling connecting BESS and MVPS
- a 33/132-kilovolt substation
- a transmission line connecting the BESS substation to the Yanco Transgrid substation, and
- temporary construction and property access.
